Meet the Performers – Amira, French Horn and Interviewee

We are delighted that Amira will be performing and being interviewed at our ‘Jess Gillam and Friends’ concert on 7 May. Amira began her Scholarship in September 2023, and has demonstrated a real commitment to learning the French Horn. Described as a ‘dedicated, talented, and musical child’ by her Mentor, Amira is often the first to answer any musical questions within her whole-class sessions and has been a shining ray of positivity within LMF events.

Tell us about your experience of being a LMF Scholar

My experience is an enjoyable and knowledgeable one because in every lesson we learn something new in a short amount of time and in an easy way.

What are you looking forward to about the concert?

I am looking forward to meeting new friends and performing with them. It will be my first time being interviewed!

What does playing music mean to you?

Music is my time to get away from reality. Music’s role in my life is practically everything!

What impact do you think music has on the world?

I think that music has the potential to change the world one day.

Who are your biggest musical inspirations?

My horn teachers, Sabrina and Sian, my mum, my music teacher Mrs Hughes, Emily and Lydia from my Music Service, and Lang Lang.

What is your dream performance?

The Royal Festival Hall or the Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra or the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
