Our vision is simple: we believe that every child who shows musical potential should be given the opportunity to develop that potential, regardless of their background.
The London Music Fund has three programmes: Scholarships, Partnerships and Amplify London. In collaboration with the 32 London borough Music Education Hubs, we work with schools, community music providers and professional music organisations across London to develop musical opportunities for children and young people.
Four-year Scholarships are awarded to children who have shown potential and commitment in learning a musical instrument but whose families are unable to pay for the ongoing costs of tuition.
Partnerships are inspirational collaborations between Music Hubs and professional partners – these ambitious projects range from West End musicals to funk, classical to grime, and give young musicians the chance to learn from and perform alongside professionals in iconic venues.
Amplify London supports grassroots organistions that provide musical activity for young people outside the school or Music Hub setting, funding inspiring projects which support and empower young artists, performers, producers and writers who face barriers in their music-making. The London Music Fund launched Amplify London in February 2020, in collaboration with Sound Connections and YouTube Music.
We are proud to be supported by ABRSM, alongside whom we deliver an annual series of Playing Days for our scholars, focusing on creative music-making. The video below showcases our 2016 Scholars’ Awards Day.
