About Us

Developing potential since 2011

Established in 2011, the London Music Fund is an independent charity (no. 1141216) with the Mayor of London as Patron. The London Music Fund’s mission is to transform under-served communities by enabling children to access high-quality music education. Our vision is that every child who demonstrates significant musical ability, enthusiasm and commitment to learning an instrument is given the opportunity to develop their potential.

We are pleased to work in partnership with London’s 30 Music Education Hubs, and with other education and music providers across the capital. Our reach is extensive, and we are able to significantly enhance musical opportunities and experiences for thousands of children and young people.

Since 2011, we have awarded more than 832 instrumental scholarships to children from low income families and funded 70 wider collaborations with professional arts organisations, schools, community music providers and music hubs, reaching more than 13,000 young musicians. In total, we have contributed over £4.2m in funding to music education in London.

‘I could not be more proud to be an ambassador for the London Music Fund, and have seen first-hand the impact their work has on children across London. Making music education accessible to all is so important, and I look forward to celebrating more of this fantastic work in future.’

“Thanks to the London Music Fund Emilia met similar children and wonderful teachers who showed her the freedom of music, the change that music can make in her life, the uniqueness of herself... She became more confident, she practiced more and with joy, she heard many talented musicians and saw many wonderful places. You have changed her future already and you are changing the future of the people around her as well and for that we would like to say a very huge THANK YOU!!!!”
