April Scholar of the Month - Jesse

Jesse, a violin Scholar from Camden Music Service, has recently received extremely high praise from his tutors, describing him as an ‘exceptional student’ and ‘simply a joy to teach’. At just age 11, he has shown fantastic natural musical ability - as well as the violin, he has been enjoying playing piano and singing in his school concert.

His tutor told us about his recent dedication and achievements:

‘A committed member of the strings ensemble, he is preparing for the summer strings concert and takes weekly cello lessons, showcasing impressive progress on both instruments. He excels in his music lessons, with outstanding understanding of musical concepts, and actively participates in singing groups, confidently performing in front of his peers. Currently working towards his ABRSM Grade 2 exam, Jesse has quickly mastered new technical skills and expanded his repertoire, demonstrating both technical and musical growth. His dedication and talent make him a promising young musician, and his progress continues to impress.’

We asked Jesse how he has been finding his Scholarship:

What has been your favourite moment of your Scholarship so far?

My favourite moment of the Scholarship has been the end of term concerts we perform at my Music Service!

What are you looking forward to most this coming year?

This year I am really looking forward to learning more new songs.

What are your musical goals for the future?

In the future, as well as improving on the violin, I would love to improve my singing skills and become a better singer!

What is your current favourite song and why?

My current favourite song is “Die with a smile” By Bruno Mars! It’s my favourite song because Bruno Mars sings in my vocal range, and also because the song is about how much you love someone.

Jesse also impressively reached the final round of soloist auditions for Camden School’s Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall! We’re so happy to continue to support him through his Scholarship as he continues to flourish. Go Jesse!
