March Scholar of the Month - Alejandra

Alejandra attending Mozartists ‘1775 - a Retrospective’ concert at Cadogan Hall in January.

Alejandra, aged 12, is a hard-working and dedicated young musician from Ealing Music Service. She has been passionate about the violin for a number of years, and enjoys playing in a range of musical styles including rock, popular and classical.

In January, London Music Fund were delighted to offer our Scholars exclusively discounted tickets to Mozartists ‘1775 - a Retrosepctive’ concert at Cadogan Hall, which marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of Ian Page and The Mozartists’ groundbreaking MOZART 250 series, exploring the music of Mozart and his contemporaries 250 years on. Alejandra was able to attend the concert, and her mum, Loreto, told us about their experience:

'“Alejandra enjoyed the concert very much and said that it was inspirational. She specially enjoyed hearing a Harpsichord playing, as although she has heard of it, she had never heard it until last night.

Her favourite pieces were; Haydn Symphony No. 67 in F major which was performed by the orchestra alone and Haydn Aria: “Quando mi dona un cenno” from Il ritorno di Tobia which included the amazing performance of Alessandro Fisher tenor, which was also Alejandra’s favourite singer.”

We also asked Alejandra how she has been finding her Scholarship so far:

What has been your favourite moment of your Scholarship so far?

“My favourite moment was when we played Viva La Vida by Coldplay in the Royal Academy of music, as I enjoyed playing it and the orchestra sounded incredible. I also loved the 10th year LMF anniversary at Southbank.”

What are you looking forward to most this coming year?

“I am looking forward to starting the music GCSE curriculum in Year 10 as we will be making music on digital resources and in bands.”

What are your musical goals for the future?

“In the future I would like to stay involved with music and be a professional violinist and play in orchestras and maybe even have my own band.”

What is your current favourite song and why?

“I don’t have one favourite song as I like lots of different genres. I like Billie Eilish as she is such a talented singer and she has some amazing songs. One of my favourite songs by her is Lovely. My favourite classical song is Winter by Vivaldi as it such a unique song and I aspire to play it one day. I also like Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana as we learnt about it in school.”

We’re so happy Alejandra is enjoying her Scholarship! We wish her all the best on her musical journey.
