Meet the Performers – Luke, Trombone

We are pleased that former LMF Scholar, Luke, will be performing in our ‘Jess Gillam and Friends’ concert on 7 May. Luke began his Scholarship in 2017 with Sutton Music Service, and after three years on his programme, gained a Scholarship to Trinity School in Croydon, where he received trombone and piano lessons.

Tell us about your experience of being a LMF Scholar

It helped me in my early musical development by introducing me to orchestral and group music.

What are you performing in the concert, and what are you looking forward to about the concert?

I am looking forward to playing for the LMF again after so many years.

What does playing music mean to you?

Music plays a massive part of my daily life at school and outside of school. I play in lots of groups from Orchestras to Big Bands. I also sing a lot.

What impact do you think music has on the world?

It gives us peace and has contributed to everything. Music is literally everywhere.

Who are your biggest musical inspirations?

My choir master David Swinson is a fantastic musician and amazing person.

What is your dream performance?

I would love to be in some sort of musical or play someday.
