The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023

Can you help the London Music Fund this Christmas?

We’re delighted to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year between 28 November and 5 December! For one week only, every pound donated to the London Music Fund will be doubled by our friends at the Childhood Trust and generous pledgers — one donation therefore has twice the impact.

What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s largest online match funding campaign. The campaign is run by the Big Give online donation platform and last year alone, raised £28.5m for over 1,000 charities. The Christmas Challenge uses a ‘pledge’ model of match funding, and therefore, every donation goes twice as far.

Who matches each donation?

The match funds come from two funding pots: pledges that we have secured in the run up to the campaign thanks to the generosity of our Trustees, and funding from our campaign 'Champion', The Childhood Trust.

Why should I donate to the London Music Fund?

All of the funds we raise will go towards supporting children from low-income families. Instead of providing one-off gifts or contributions towards a short-term project, we invest significant time and funding into nurturing and empowering young people, so that they can develop their potential in music and beyond. We believe that every child who demonstrates significant musical ability, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning an instrument should be given the opportunity to develop their potential, and we achieve this through four programmes: Scholarships, Senior Scholars, Partnerships, and Amplify London.

‘I know you are rightly very focussed on the musical progress made by your scholars but please do not underestimate the huge impact your awards also have socially, emotionally, behaviourally, in supporting pupil well-being and really perhaps most significantly of all giving them access to a wider pool of adults in their lives that will fight their corners and support their families when things are tricky. This is absolutely priceless and would not be possible without the LMF connection’. — Xanthe, Hackney Mentor

‘Eleanor's involvement in the Scholarship has not only enhanced her musical abilities but also her personal growth. She has become more outgoing, confident, and mature, developing essential orchestral performance skills that will be invaluable for her future musical journey. We cannot express enough gratitude for the support provided by the LMF funding. Eleanor takes immense pride in being a LMF scholar and aspires to give back by volunteering to help other children and share her musical skills in the future. Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity that has positively influenced Eleanor's life’.

Count me in! How do I donate?

At midday on 28 November, our campaign page will go live, and you can donate up until midday on 5 December. If you are unable to pay by card, please contact sophie@londonmusicfund.org before 30 November to submit a conduit donation (only available for a donation of £1,000 or more).

Thank you!

With no statutory or government funding, 100% of our income is from generous individuals, corporate support, and trusts and foundations. As a small charity with only three members of staff, we are hugely grateful to our wonderful supporters. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity.
