Celebrating Young Musicians at St John’s Smith Square

We had an incredible night at St John’s Smith Square on 7 May celebrating young musicians with LMF Ambassadors Jess Gillam MBE, YolanDa Brown OBE, and Sasha Grynyuk!

With performances from current and former London Music Fund Scholars, Senior Scholars, Partnership Project Participants, and Graduate Ambassadors, the concert not only exemplified the power of music education but embodied the very essence of LMF’s mission. A special mention goes to Amira, pictured on the left, who co-hosted the evening with YolanDa!

The programme included works by David Sampson, Isaac Albéniz, Karl Jenkins, and music from Samuri Champloo.

We were delighted to receive this email from a parent of two former Scholars after the event:

‘I wanted to express a huge thank you to you all for last night. The quality of the music (as always) was off the scale! Both of my Scholars had a wonderful time. My son has such respect for Andy Grappy (conductor), his guidance and enthusiasm has inspired him from his award day all those years ago. Seeing my daughter relaxed on stage, happily chatting to her peers is a far cry from the many texts I would receive in the early days that she has no one to speak to and isn't good enough to be there. Music is so much more than the actual playing and the social confidence she has gained through her time at LMF is beyond measure. Thank you all so much for all your do, not just for my children but all the other young people that you allow to find their feet and shine’.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the concert possible.
