Summer Celebration Day
On 7 July 2024, we hosted our Summer Celebration Day at the Royal Academy of Music. This event celebrated the musical achievements of our current Scholarship cohorts and provided a fantastic opportunity for our Scholars to learn and perform together in a prestigious central London venue.
Our Scholars enjoyed a creative afternoon of music-making, led by Spencer Down and a team of wonderful professional section leaders, during which they prepared two pieces of music: O Fortuna and Viva La Vida.
The workshop culminated in a performance to family, friends, and generous supporters of LMF. We were also delighted to be joined by composer James B. Wilson during the concert, who gave an inspiring speech to our Scholars about his musical journey and advice for pursuing music further. James is an award-winning composer of contemporary classical music based in Bedfordshire, England. James' music focuses on the rich textural, timbral and harmonic possibilities of acoustic instruments, and the voice.
There was also a short awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of our current Scholars. A huge congratulations to the following Scholars, who won awards during the ceremony:
