Meet our Award Winners — Luca

Luca is a 2022-26 saxophone Scholar from Newham Music Hub. At our Summer Celebration Day, Luca won the Teamwork and Ensembles Award, which is awarded to Scholars who have demonstrated teamwork skills and have musically encouraged their peers.

Luca’s tutors have not only been impressed with his boundless enthusiasm, passion, and dedication, but his personal development through music. Luca recognises the variety of musical roles that he can play and ensures that every musician is included.

What was your favourite part of the Playing Day and workshop on 7 July?

My favourite part about playing on the 7th of July was all the social interactions I had with different people from different parts of London.

What does being a London Music Fund Scholar mean to you?

Being a LMF Scholar is, to me, a way that helps me improve my instrument skills by playing with different people and also having fun at the same time.

What have you enjoyed the most about being a London Music Fund Scholar?

My favourite part about being a LMF Scholar is the way that I can play my instrument without having to worry about paying for things like grade exams or the payment to go to my local music hub.

What are your musical goals for the future?

My musical goals for the future are to buy a baritone saxophone and learn how to play it since I have wanted to play it ever since I found out it was an actual thing.
