Meet our Award Winners — Mohammed

Mohammed is a 2021-25 piano Scholar from Newham Music Hub. At our Summer Celebration Day, Mohammed won the Exceptional Achievement Award, given to Scholars who have excelled in their learning this year. Mohammed has already achieved his grade 8 piano and has been praised by his Mentor for his musicianship, sight-reading, and mastery of music theory. He has been developing skills in Baroque contrapuntal playing and is working on a number of technically demanding pieces at the moment.

We asked Mohammed a few questions about his experience as a Scholar and the Summer Celebration Day:

What was your favourite part of the Playing Day and workshop on 7 July?

My favourite part of Sunday was going up onto the stage and receiving my award.

What does being a London Music Fund Scholar mean to you?

Being a LMF scholar for me means taking in the best parts of London and turning it into music for everyone to enjoy.

What have you enjoyed the most about being a London Music Fund Scholar?

The thing I have enjoyed most about being a LMF scholar is being able to play with other musicians my age and performing to the audiences.

What are your musical goals for the future?

In the future, I would like to spread my musical talent further and possibly encourage others to take up this kind of opportunity. Many thanks for being so supportive in my musical journey.
